Like the saying of Jainism "Damo nāsti dayāparaḥ", meaning “There is no religion higher than kindness,” and "Dayā Mūlo Bhaved Dharma" from the ancient Purāṇa of Ajita Senacharya, which proclaims compassion as the root of religion—Shri Chandrashekhar Kakkeri and his wife Smt. Basavarajeshwari Kakkari have joined the ranks of the many great people who have shown society that they are dedicated servants (seva durandhas).

Like “growing Siri in a bud,” Shri Chandrashekhar Kakkeri, who was elected to the student union during his student days, proved himself to be a capable organizer and an inspiring leader by finding solutions to students' educational problems. Even then, he had already shown signs that he would become a committed social worker in the future.

A brilliant student, Shri Chandrashekhar Kakkeri is an engineering graduate. He joined Government Service as an Engineer in 1984 and served in the Minor Irrigation Department, Medium Irrigation Department, Major Irrigation Department, PWD, and later as an efficient authority in the Zilla Parishads. He lived by the Sarana principle that “Satya Shuddha Kayaka”—truthful and pure work—must never be abandoned, and by the ideal that “If you salute your duty, you need not salute anybody; but if you pollute your duty, you have to salute everybody.” He understood these principles deeply and practiced them sincerely..

His mind, like that of a true gentleman, was always keen on selfless service. With great enthusiasm to serve society, he held various positions: Member and Honorary President of the Institute of Engineers (India) local branch, Vice President of the Public Welfare Committee, active member of the Retired Engineers’ Welfare Association, Vice President of the Karnataka Graduate Engineers’ Association, and many others—always fulfilling his social responsibilities with dedication. Even after retiring in 2018, he did not remain idle; his thirst for learning never diminished.

Then came the flowering of the inner strength hidden within him. Even at the age of 60, during the challenging times of the Covid crisis, he completed a law degree—not for financial gain, but with the foresight that it would enable him to help society more effectively. Realizing that noble social activities enhance the dignity and honor of the community, Shri Chandrashekhar Kakkeri played a significant role in the Veerashaiva Bride and Groom Convention. He rendered an invaluable service by collecting details of brides and grooms from various parts of the state, organizing them by educational qualifications, and publishing a comprehensive “Bride and Groom Information” directory.

Behind every achievement of Shri Chandrashekhar Kakkeri stands an unseen strength— his devoted wife, Smt. Basavarajeshwari Chandrashekhar Kakkeri. Truly, “Behind a successful man, there is a woman.” Smt. Basavarajeshwari has always been the inspiration and support behind his philanthropic work.
